Sweet Stranger and Me - a familiar love in family

This was my week-drama and I must confess that I liked it more than I expected, after reading the synopsis I didn’t have big expectations for it, however my heart changed…

The story goes around Hong Na Ri, a flight attendant that after her mother’s death finds out that there is a young man called Go Nan Gil living in her house and taking care of the restaurant. Nan Gil claims be her new stepfather, even being much younger than her. Now they must live together.

There are many secrets and dangerous situations that they must face, but Hong Na Ri can always count on Nan Gil and her neighborhood friend Kwon Duk Bong, the owner of the local robot museum and a famous ex-lawyer, beside Do Yeo Joo, her friend/enemy coworker and the team of the restaurant.

Kim Young Kwang was fantastic in this drama, playing a bad guy with a golden heart that is loyal and will protect the restaurant and the land at any cost. I was impressed how he could play dumb scenes and at the same time make such dramatic scenes, moving my heart to different directions all the time. I will look forward for upcoming dramas with Young Kwang.

Park Soo Ae was really good too, she is not just cute but very talented as actress. I can understand why all the male characters fall in love with her. I believe that was the first drama I have ever watched with her, but I liked it so much that I will look for more dramas with her.

I have seen Lee Soo Hyuk in another drama where he played a heartless vampire, I hated him so much that I had problems to get along with this new character he played. I believe it is a good sign, if I hate an actor it is because he was so good being bad that I believed in all, but my heart changed again, he was a fantastic good guy in this drama.

Jo Bo Ah played a wench girl, she is a gold digger looking for a rich husband. I must tell that she was fantastic and talented, I hated her so badly in the beginning, but you will see that it is impossible don’t like her even a bit, she is so charismatic and funny. And I must tell that she is incredibly pretty.

It’s a perfect suggestion if you are looking for a mix of sweet and danger, love and tears… Have fun!

My Love from Another Star - a drama from another world

This is a drama of a handsome alien, Do Min Joon, that will fall in love for a beautiful but crazy girl, Cheon Song Yi, and of course, their love seems impossible. Her best friend Yoo Se Mi is not so her friend as she thought and there is a rich man, Lee Hee Kyung, that loves her a lot but Cheon Song Yi doesn’t love him back… and that’s just crazy, how can she doesn’t love someone so caring, handsome and extremely rich?! Just crazy!!

I thought it could be a great drama and I was a bit mistaken… it’s just good, not great. You ask me why?! Because I didn’t like the end of it… I wonder if they have no imagination for a best end, I’m sure had an incredible idea how to finish it. I ask myself if I should apply for a position as a drama writer… does it pay well?!

Anyway, it’s a good drama from the beginning to almost the end of the last episode, but if you haven’t watched it I suggest you spare some time to watch it. Now about the actors!

Kim Soo Hyun was pretty cold playing a cold alien and he made so many dramatic scenes that I almost cried with him (well, I cried a bit). He isn’t just handsome, but very talented, however I don’t remember him playing another drama, such a shame…

Jeon Ji Hyun was fantastic playing the arrogant and crazy actress, and when time came she was very good playing the hurt and depressed lover. The only thing that bothered me a little is that she was to slim, I don’t like this beauty standard, it’s so difficult be that slim naturally (believe me, I know it).

Park Hae Jin played the cute, naïve and rich guy, he was pretty good too and his face is kind of familiar, maybe I have seen him in another drama but I don’t recall that now. The thing is that I liked him in this drama.

Yoo In Na is wonderful in this drama and she is staring another famous drama at the moment called Goblin, she is in love with the grim raper. When I saw her for the first time the first thing that caught my attention was her lips, she is like the Korean Angelina Jolie.

Well, that’s it… a pretty good drama to watch (just don’t expect much from the end…).

Personal Taste - my kind of drama

Just 16 episodes with about an hour each looked like a great option for my “weekend drama project” and once again I wasn't wrong, actually I'm always so right that it doesn't surprise me anymore. This drama is a romantic comedy, the way I like, but there are so many traumatic situations and personal issues that made it be even better…

The story goes around Jeon Jin Ho, a handsome and talented architect that is trying to win a competition for an amazing project, however to achieve his goal he has to rent a room in a house built for a famous architect and live there with the architect's daughter, Park Kae In. The daughter is unbelievable kind and she trusts anyone, the result of it is a broken heart and a damaged auto confidence after be betrayed by her boyfriend and her friend.

Park Kae In is so air headed that she believes he is gay and in exchange for the permission to live there, he allows her to believe in that lie. But things will get more and more complicated while they keep living there and their hearts will change… Can they be together, even when everything and everyone conspires against it?!

My first impression about Lee Min Ho was… oh my gosh, he is tall, my second was… wow, he is handsome and after the last episode I was impressed with his acting skills. Lee Min Ho played a young and methodic architect that was looking for success and found love instead, I almost died with him when he was struggling with his problems and laughed when he did. Great job.

My first impression on Son Ye Jin wasn't that positive, I was comparing her with different actresses from other dramas, she wasn't very pretty (the traditional korean beauty), however during the drama I understood that it was part of the character and to hide her natural beauty was just part of her job. Son Ye Jin isn't just beautiful, but very talented too, I was touched with her crying scenes and how she could be so cute sometimes… great job too!!!

Aaaaaahhhhhhh… I must talk about a kiss scene that I saw there!! It was sooooo cute that I thought I could die… in that moment I thought: “now I understand the reason I was born, it was just to see this kiss scene”. Watch this drama and I'm sure you will know about what I'm saying.

Well, that's it… a great option to watch alone but a better option to watch with someone else. Have fun!!!

Kiss at the first sign!

Talk about kiss wasn't a big deal in my life, especially in this crazy world where people are losing their minds and being more and more explicit in their affective demonstrations. However, I was shocked after watch a Korean drama.

I was watching Oh My Venus and my heart was beating so fast while the kiss moment was approaching, my hands were sweating, my mouth was dry and I was locking in the bottle of my throat the scream of happiness for finally see them together. Now please, imagine my disappointment when the expected kiss was just a peck kiss (the lips touching quickly).

Both character were over 30 years old and that was the kiss?! Really?! Come on, kids around the world have shared deeper kisses than those two. After a moment of deep and profound reflection, I understood that I was looking the reflection of a whole culture, with different standards and different attitudes.

So, I asked a female friend about her experiences kissing, she told me that in the first date they never kiss and when they do kiss, they have a peck kiss first to later on start kissing for real. I thought it was just with girls, but than I asked a male friend and he told me that he never kiss in the first date and normally the first kiss is a peck kiss.

But of course there are open mouth kisses and with tongue too, but they don't do it in public or with someone they barely know. They keep these things for private moments… there are others ways to show affection than pressing your tongue in your boy/girlfriend's throat to everybody see.

My Korean female friend's first kiss was with 22 years old and my Korean male friend's first kiss was with 17. I don't have to say how in that moment I felt like Mary Magdalene, the prostitute… I will never reveal how old I was when I first kissed! Not even under severe torture (maybe just if So Ji Sub asks me… I can’t hide anything from him).

In the occidental culture people believe they have to make themselves happy, without a second thought… so it causes a disintegration of values, kids are not kids anymore, a kiss isn't a proof of affection and “I love you” is the same as “good morning” these days. However, the oriental culture (and more specific here the Korean) are trying to preserve their values and beliefs.

During the dramas I have been watching I could see that more than the story itself there was a group of values being thought. The respect to the oldest, the teamwork in schools, workplaces and life, the respect to the body through alimentary habits, and so forth.

People there don't touch each other for no reason, their space and bodies are special that's why that even a simple and pure peck kiss has an entire different meaning. Honestly I envy those values and standards, I believe we have much to learn with the oriental cultures.

Kiss someone is good, but kiss someone you really love and care about is much better… so, stop kissing-first-and-asking-later and starting looking for the right person to kiss!

I’m curious now… How old were you when you first kissed?
Please post your comment!!
