So Ji Sub - the personification of my dreams

If you have the immensurable pleasure to really talk with me in real life, you must know that I am a big fan of So Ji Sub and today’s post is about him. I wish he could read it as well, but for reasons that are beyond my control I believe he won’t (what must be the best since I will say some embarrassing things here). This is probably going to be the longest post I had published in this blog… maybe I could take this and make a book (or trilogy)… lol

First of all let me tell you who are my idols and why I consider them as my idols, in fact I have just 3 idols, I will talk about them in the chronologic order and not in importance order.

The first of them is called Inuyasha, if you don’t know him maybe you haven’t seen his anime (a Japanese cartoon)… yes, he is a fictional character of a Japanese animation! You are probably laughing or rolling your eyes, imagining how crazy someone like me could be…
I watched it when a was a child/teenager and I was so in love with him that I dreamt with him once, a really romantic dream! I love his white hair, rude manners and a protective instinct that melts my heart… My first Idol!

After that there is Jonny Depp, an American actor famous for his character Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean, I must say that what fascinates me is his crazy look. What can I say?! I like crazy people… All my students could confirm it, I love use him in my examples, specially associated with the adjectives crazy, handsome and sexy…

Now, my last Idol but not less important… SO JI SUB!!!! I must say that he was responsible for my addiction in Korean dramas and consequently my interest in Korean language and culture… After I have watched “Oh my Venus” it was kind of inevitable.
And I am sure every girl that is reading it right now is shaking her head in agreement while her heart is beating as fast as a rocket, or as fast as the light speed (nothing can be faster than this). But I have plausible reasons to admire him as my most recent Idol.

Reason 1: his body
Come on… how someone can be so hot like him and at his age?! I am not saying that he is an ancient mummy (trust me, nothing in his abb would suggest it), but he is 39 years old, almost 40 (his birthday is on November 4th)… A lot of men with their twenty something aren’t as hot as him. It’s against the laws of nature be so good looking like him, but I forgive him.

Reason 2: his talents
I first met him as an actor and I don’t have to say how amazing he was, you probably know it too… but then I found out that he is a singer and a business man, what is incredible is that he is awesome in every single area. He is known as a great professional and it’s something that must be recognized, someone so rich and handsome could be irresponsible as much as he wanted to, but no, he is a perfect gentleman.

Reason 3: destiny
I was destined to admire him, that’s something inexplicable… almost magical… I don’t know why I like him so much (as a human being and professional). So, I am going to ask a favor (something I have already asked to my Korean friends), if you have this incredible opportunity to meet So Ji Sub in person, before you faint or die from a heart attack (it was what would happen to me), please, tell him that he has a huge, enormous, immensurable fan in Brazil that admires his work and himself. I’m Adriana ( 드리 아나), but he can called me Drica (드리카) or whatever he wants… lol

By the way, that's the first time I truly envy a dog, I wish I could be Kiki for a day... just one day... Can you imagine So Ji Sub feeding me, washing my fur, scratching my belly… well, let’s stop here... no more wild ideas! kkkkkkkk

That’s not all, but I don’t need to say more, I tried to show my point and I believe you get it… Now, tell me, why do you like Si Ji Sub so much? Post you comment!

Splash Splash Love (퐁당퐁당 LOVE)

Splash Splash Love surprised me because it was extremely short, just two episodes with about an hour each one! I must be honest here, I'm not a big fan of time travel dramas, because normally the main characters can stay together.

Something that is totally understandable, it's difficult to abandon your famili and life in the future with all the commodities (internet, hot water, a toilet) to stay in the past, even if the love of your life is there. So I'm not interested in stories with no happy endings…

However against all my senses I started watching it… well let me talk about the story first and then I can tell you my impression on it.

The story goes around Dan Bi (Kim Seul Gi), a girl that hates mathematic and has a strange connection with the rain that allows her to travel into time… in the day she's going to make an important test to the university she runs away and jumps into a puddle.
She travels to the the past and meet the king Lee Do (Yoon Doo Joon), he understood she was an eunuch and allows her to assist him with mathematical issues. Time passes and they fall in love, however life in the past it's not easy...

Yoon Doo Joon was good like a prince, I almost didn’t recognize him from other dramas I have seen.

Kim Seul Gi was ok.. however she lacks in so many ways as a person who was transported to the past (maybe the plot wasn'thelpful)… she definitely won't be in my top 10 list! Sorry… But something remarkable about her is the ability of look like a high school girl, I would never imagine she was almost my age, an actress with 25 years old that plays a girl with 18 must be reconized by her acting skills (and good genes).

It's difficult to judge this drama once it's so short, but if you don't have nothing better to do you could give a chance to it… or maybe just take a nap… I don't know...

Choco Bank - a sweet drama

If you are busy these days but would like to watch a good drama in you free time, I have a good suggestion here... Choco Bank. This drama has just 6 episodes with 10 minutes each, you could watch it while doing the number 2 in the bathroom (aigoo, don't do it ok?!).

It's a light drama with a simple plot, however is good to clear your stressed mind maybe... The story goes around with Ha Choco (Park Eun Bin) the owner of a cafe or choco shop (or as I prefer, heaven in the earth), a place where you can find the most delicious cakes and sweeties, and Kim Eun Haeng (Kim Jonh In), the male character is an ex banker that lost his job and hopes. Ha Choco offers a job in her shop to him if he agrees to help her with her financial life. He agrees and then they have to help each other and figure out if they can stay together being so different.

Kim Jong In is good in this drama, he has a serious and angry countenance but during the drama he shows a sweet heart, it proves his ability to play different roles and emotions. He isn't in my top 10 hot actor's list, but he is talented, what is great!

Park Eun Bin was responsible for something unprecedented here, that's the first time I liked the female character more than male. She was great, her acting skills are very high, however she isn't in my top 10 list eighter. Such a shame...

Well, that's my suggestion for a quick and funny drama, I hope you have fun just like I did!

W - between two worlds

I have seem many comments about this drama, I was quite curious about it so I started watching it… the comments I will make now are just my opinion, but coincidently it's the same of many others I have read online.

The drama takes place in Seoul and in a parallel world from a cartoon. The cartoonist created a famous Web to on called W, but suddenly the cartoonist daughter, Oh Yeon Joo (Han Hyo Joo) is dragged into this world and she saves the male main character, Kang Chul (Lee Jong Suk). From that point on their worlds are connected and the interference can  be crucial to determine the lives of those people who live in the cartoon world. Oh Yeon Joo and Kang Chul fall in love, but the whole drama make you wonder if it's possible a human girl and a fictional character stay together… Watch and confirm it!

Lee Jong Suk was fantastic in this drama, just like in Pinocchio, I'm a big fan  of his expressions, specially his naughty face, happy face, serious face and even his crying face! And in the whole drama there weren't many single shirtless scenes, but it was good anyway, just to prove that to be a good actor you don't need a perfect body and be shirtless in every scene (but he has a perfect body indeed).

Han Hyo Joo was good playing her role, her acting skills are pretty good of course, but maybe because she isn't that famous to me, I wouldn't add her in my top 5 best actresses list (maybe she would be in my top 10 list). The dramatic and you-will-cry-like-a-baby scenes were fantastic,  she showed a high level there, however I would have used someone else to play this role, maybe…. ME! I totally volunteer for that, and I wouldn't ask for payment  (kiss Lee Jong Suk would be enough payment for a life time) LOL!!!!!!

So,  that's it. They got this crazy idea of a real world and a fictional colliding and made a really good drama. Congrats to the actor and to the team, you just did it!!

Pinocchio

Pinicchio is one of these dramas that will surprise you, well, it surprised me for sure. I wasn’t expecting something so creative like that… they even created a syndrome! Pinocchio Syndrome!

Pinocchio is about two young teenagers, Choi In Ha (Park Shin Hye) and Choi Dal Po (Lee Jong Suk), for unfortunate reasons they live together since they are kids. Choi Dal Po likes Choi In Ha from the very beginning, however their family past is an issue between them. His family was ruined for her family, only him know that and now he struggles with the difficult choice of move on or look for revenge.

The story starts as an easy comedy, however as the time passes by some emotional events are added to the plot and the whole story gets a new and deep version. It’s impossible don’t feel sorry and happy for them and the best part is that the end of it is surprising, everything is possible, you can’t tell for sure what is going to happen.

Lee Jong Suk shows his versatility as Choi Dal Po, in the beginning of the drama he isn’t handsome or charming, and then suddenly he shows a new and sexy look. It’s impressive what a haircut and some new clothes can do for a person. But his essence is the same, he is a caring and considerate person! And sexy of course.

Park Shin Hye surprised me with her acting, she became one of my favorite actresses, maybe she is the second one in my list. I can’t believe that someone can be so talented and beautiful at the same time, looks unfair with the rest of us, mere mortals. Park Shin Hye interpreted her syndrome with perfection, I almost wished that the syndrome was real. Crazy, right?!

Well, that’s it. This is one of my favorite dramas, watch if you have some time and realize how right I was! Bye bye!

Healer

Today’s post is about a drama that I finished just 30 seconds ago, it’s called “Healer”. Things are pretty fresh in my mind, so it’s easy to talk about it.

You know that when someone is writing something or making some comments about it they should take in consideration the person who is going to read it and try to be impartial, well… it’s not what is going to happen here. I will be honest but my personal opinion will be clearly expressed in each line.

The thing is, I am not a big fan of action stuff (movies, TV series and doramas), that’s why I was very reluctant in start watching this dorama… Healer wasn’t a choice I’ve made with my heart, but I gave a chance to it anyway.

The story goes around a pretty boy, known as Healer (Ji Chang Wook) that works as a kind of spy, doing almost everything for money, except kill people (very sweet, right?!) and the reporter Chae Young Shin (Park Min Young) from a small web news, now imagine what, their paths cross but it’s not the first time. The life of both is full of secrets, death and love, a crazy mix, but it worked. Should I say that they fall in love or you have got it already?! However love isn’t easy, there are so many things going on with them, just seem impossible know what could happen…

Park Min Young and Ji Chang Wook did well in this drama!

Ji Chang Wook shirtless scenes were pretty good, but his acting skills were a bit more shocking, he is awesome as a spy with a lot of emotional issues.

Park Min Young was good too of course, but unfortunately she won’t be in my “favorite actresses’ list”, I don’t know… she lacks in some points.

Well, to be honest I thought I wouldn’t watch it until the end, the first 5 or 6 episodes are no cute at all, there are too much action to my personal taste, but it surprised me little by little, when they were adding romance with some significance. I must say that in the end I was locked in my room screaming with some characters just like a crazy person would do. It’s impossible don’t get involved with the plot, the bonds between them are so strong that I should have cried once or twice (or more).

It's a good choice of dorama wo watch with your boyfriend or husband, there is action and love, it may suit both tastes!

Oh My Venus - a light dorama, a heavy story

Oh My Venus was the first dorama I have watched and it was responsible for my new addiction in Korean culture, to be honest So Ji Sub played an important hole in Korean addiction, his perfect face and body and the “aparição” of his abbs totally captivated me. However I'm not such a superficial fan, the story and the acting skills of the whole actors involved also caught my attention.

The story goes around Kang Joo Eun (Shin Min Ah), a beautiful girl in high school that changes a lot while time passes by, she became a lawyer but her life is falling apart (professional and romantic life), then suddenly she meets Kim Yeong Ho (So Ji Sub), a fantastic and mysterious personal trainer. So she begs him to train her and help her to become the beauty she was once… I’m sure you can imagine what happens later, well, let me just tell you that you will fail, this story is unpredictable and adorable.

At first the plot was funny and light, the kind of drama that diabetic people  should avoid, but almost in the middle of it an unpredictable twist made this dorama one of my favorites. The funny plot received deeper aspects of their lives, exposing traumas and scars that are responsible for their personality, the way they see the world and each other.

If you are looking for something funny and dramatic, romantic and sad, you have found a good option, so just organize your time and watch it. I bet you won't be able to stop it.

Now let's talk about the actors and their characters, the first one is So Ji Sub! He is a brilliant actor and singer, during this drama he shows a cold side that could make your heart froze and melt at the same time and there are many shirtless scenes (my favorite one is in the first episode, in a bath!!!!).

Now the female part…Shin Min Ah... she was fantastic during the whole drama, her acting abilities were improving every new episode, I was able to laugh and cry with her and the light transitions of these feelings were admirable. She was responsible for future choices of other doramas, and I can say for sure that she didn't disappointed me, not even once.

There are other character around the principal couple and their stories are so fantastic as the principal one, when you realize you are wondering what is going to happen with that character and start suffering with them too. That's unusual, normally you just get attached with the main couple, all the attention is dragged to them so naturally, but in this drama you will found out that everybody has secrets, love and traumas.

At the end of it you start wonder why there are so few episodes in this dorama, it's almost a crime don't produce more of it. As you can see I won't tell you what's going on in this dorama, I hate spoilers,  so dear reader, it's up to you watch it and fall in love just like me.
